AMP - Advanced Manufacturing Park

Masterplan

The Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP) is a 100 acre site on the Rotherham-Sheffield border in South Yorkshire. It is a joint venture between public and private sector organisations including Yorkshire Forward and UK Coal (owner of the land) whose aim is to create an internationally recognised centre for engineering, innovation, research and manufacturing excellence.

The AMP’s goal is to capitalise on the advanced engineering and manufacturing expertise amassed in the South Yorkshire area, and to further strengthen that capability in order for the area’s companies to remain globally competitive in the 21st century.

At its hub, the AMP has some of the world’s leading materials and structures R&D organisations: the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre with Boeing (AMRC), the Rolls-Royce Factory of the Future, Castings Technology International (CTi), TWI Technology Centre (Yorkshire) and the new Nuclear AMRC.

These organisations provide manufacturers, of all size and sectors, with the ability to take advantage of advanced technologies and new market opportunities so they are better able to create local jobs and export the best of the region’s manufacturing design, technology, skills and innovation around the world.

The AMP currently boasts a highly skilled and knowledgeable workforce of over 500, including over 100 graduate engineers and PhDs, from countries such as the US, China, Germany, Israel and Mexico.

Technology developed on the AMP is already being utilised in leading edge projects, such as within Formula One and the next generation of military and commercial aircraft, including the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

The wide range of high quality property available at the AMP includes small office, workshop and lab space, through medium-sized hybrid and light industrial units to larger custom-built design and build options. This provides growing companies at every stage of development with the opportunity to locate their operation at the UK’s recognised centre of excellence for advanced manufacturing, and benefit from their proximity to industry innovators and international brands.
