Waverley is an exciting, visionary mixed use development situated in Rotherham, within the Sheffield City region and the heart of South Yorkshire. It is poised to become a new self-sufficient, sustainable and integrated community with innovative new housing, cutting edge office space and an integrated transport system with a dedicated transport exchange facility central to the Waverley community, connected to the City region and beyond. Waverley will provide an inspirational place where people can work, rest and play, it will also mean that in the future there will be a ready workforce available for the nearby Advanced Manufacturing park, Helical Governetz sites and for facilities and amenities within the community.

Waverley – the Vision

Waverley New Community will be a sustainable, well connected and well built settlement able to meet the day to day needs of its community and also contribute to meeting the needs  of the wider local area. It will be home to approximately 9,000 people and together with the AMP and Helical Governetz sites will form part of a wider community at Waverley.

The community will be physically, socially and environmentally sustainable. Transport, reinforced by a public transport interchange, will provide a choice of movement and modes of transport ensuring good access through the community and the surrounding communities and beyond. Low carbon development and sustainable energy principles will be promoted throughout the scheme as will green infrastructure. Waverley will have an appropriate and sustainable mix of uses, including tenures and types of housing and an appropriate range of facilities, amenities and social infrastructure. Good governance and management of the community will be important and residents will have the opportunity to become involved in this process.
